WHOTSUP Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how the WHOTSUP mobile application ("WHOTSUP", "the app", "we", "us") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the app on iOS or Android. By using WHOTSUP you agree to the practices described below.

1. Information We Collect

Account information (only if you create an account). WHOTSUP can be played as a guest. If you choose to register, we collect:

Your email address and a password (passwords are handled and stored securely by our authentication provider; we do not see or store your plaintext password).
A display name you choose.
An avatar you select from a set of emoji (we do not collect photographs or use your device camera or photo library).

Gameplay information. To run the game and its features we store:

Game statistics such as wins and games played.
For online/multiplayer play: game room data and the players in a room.
Friend connections, if you use the friends feature.
In-app settings such as hint balance and whether ads have been removed.

Advertising information. WHOTSUP shows ads through Google AdMob. To serve ads, AdMob may collect your device's advertising identifier, general device information, and ad-interaction data. On iOS, we ask for your permission (App Tracking Transparency) before allowing personalized advertising; you can decline and still use the app.

Push notifications. With your permission, WHOTSUP may send you push notifications — for example, to let you know about a friend request, a chat message, or when it is your turn in a multiplayer game. To deliver these, we store a device push token associated with your account. You can enable or disable notifications at any time in your device settings, and the app works without them.

What we do NOT collect. WHOTSUP does not collect your photos, precise location, or contacts.

2. How We Use Information

To create and manage your account and let you sign in.
To run gameplay, save your progress, statistics, and settings.
To enable online multiplayer and the friends feature.
To send push notifications you have opted into, such as friend requests, chat messages, and turn reminders.
To display ads that help keep the app free, and to measure ad performance.
To maintain the security and proper functioning of the app.

3. Third-Party Services

We rely on the following service providers, who process data on our behalf or for their own purposes as described in their policies:

Google Firebase (authentication and database) — Firebase Privacy.
Google AdMob (advertising) — Google Ads Privacy.
Expo (push notification delivery) — Expo Privacy.

These providers may process your information outside your country of residence.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with the service providers listed above as needed to operate the app, or where required by law. Within online multiplayer, your display name and avatar are visible to other players in the same game room.

5. Data Retention

We keep account and gameplay data for as long as your account exists. If you delete your account or request deletion, we remove your associated personal data, except where we must retain it to comply with legal obligations.

6. Your Choices and Rights

You can play as a guest without creating an account.
On iOS, you can allow or decline ad tracking, and change this anytime in your device Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking.
You can reset or limit your advertising identifier in your device settings.
You can enable or disable push notifications at any time in your device settings.
You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your data.

7. Children's Privacy

WHOTSUP is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, we will delete it.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version here and revise the "Last updated" date above.
